Adoption is a roller-coaster ride, for certain. It seems like our journey has been filled with lots of ups and downs lately.
UP – Having a successful silent auction fundraising event.
DOWN – Struggling to find the time to wrap all of that up AND get the unsold items listed here on our Fundraising Store.
UP – Being invited to paint faces at a Christmas festival last weekend.
DOWN – Raising less than $20 at the event.
UP – Hearing back from one of the grant/loan applications we made.
DOWN – Being told that it will take considerably longer to process than we anticipated.
UP – Being offered a generous donation.
DOWN – Because I can’t give the donor a tax receipt, it might not materialize.
UP – Getting to see the best in others as they generously support this effort.
DOWN – Dealing with snarky comments from others who don’t support us.
UP – All the spiritual lessons I’m learning (albeit, some – painfully!) through this process.
And I’ll end up on that “UP” note, because really, that’s what this life is all about: Streching. Growing. Learning. Expanding. Can’t say that the process is always fun, but it’s always, always worth it in the end.
Especially on the day that my daughter gets to exchange sparkling princess shoes for the ones in the photo above… 🙂
“To…give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.” ~Isaiah 63:1
