Apparently, I was confused about the home study process.
I thought that I’d walk out of today’s meeting with the completed report in my hands.
As one of my favorite old TV characters, Fred Sanford, would say, “You big dummy!”
It isn’t as if the social worker misled us; it was all there in the little fine print I read way back when we first started the process. I’d forgotten, though, and made an assumption, and you know what they say about assuming things.
Sure made a donkey outta me.
This most valuable little stack of paperwork will be mailed to us in 7 to 10 days. So that’s another week or more of waiting; 7 to 10 more days until we can begin applying for grants and other forms of creative adoption financing.
But, on the upside, it’s more days to add products to our Fundraising Shop. By the way, my family sends a big, huge THANK YOU to all who shared this website and made purchases in response to this blog post the other day. Please keep sharing and spreading the love for this little girl — I hear from the orphanage’s pastor that when she hears about the growing love and support she has here, she covers her mouth with her hands and laughs with joy.
Did I ever show you her million-dollar smile? Oh, it’s a lovely one!
Thanks for giving her a reason to use it!
